We cannot wait to welcome you for Breast Walk Ever Hampshire.

Key Information

It’s not too late to start or even kick on with your fundraising. With the walk now just days away what better time to ask your nearest and dearest to show their support ahead of your big challenge. Anything you can raise is greatly appreciated and will bring us one step closer to a vaccine Against Breast Cancer.

Your fundraising can make a significant difference to our research. Breast Walk Ever Hampshire offers fully signposted routes all starting and finishing at the IBM Sports Club in Hursley. Please do have a read through the following and familiarise yourself with your route map:

Event location:

IBM UK Labs, Hursley Park, Hursley, Winchester SO21 2JN

Marathon start: 8:00 am
Half Marathon start: 9.30 am
10K start: 11:00 am

When your arrive head to registration which is clearly marked. We recommend arriving around 30 minutes before your start time in order to give you enough time to get registered before the safety briefing, 5 minutes prior to the start of each walk. A member of our team will need your full name in order to provide you with your walker number. You will need to fill emergency contact details onto the back and pin it to yourself somewhere we can see at each check point. Do please bring your own safety pins should you have them.

Free parking available all day on site for participants and supporters.

Cut-off time

To ensure the safety of walkers we do have to stipulate a formal cut-off time for the Half Marathon route. If walkers are not able to leave our last rest stop at Shawford Train Station (Platform 1) by 3.30pm, they will be picked up by one of our patrol vehicles and taken to the finish area. Anyone continuing the walk after this point does so at their own risk.

Navigation

You can view a map on the Breast Walk Ever website which you can use on your phone to track your progress on the day. You will also have received google map and GPX files via email.

The route follows various National Trails including the Ridgeway and Thames Path, all of which are open to the public. All routes will be clearly signed, with marshals located at some potentially confusing points and road crossings. There are parts of the route that cross fields that may have livestock in them. There will be gates and styles too that walkers will need to be able to navigate. We ask that dogs are kept on a lead at all times.

The Finish

When you arrive at the finish you can expect a hero’s welcome, with music, refreshments and of course a medal to recognise all of your hard work. A massage will also be available to all walkers.

In the event of an issue that is not presenting a risk to life whilst on the route, please call 07949 936729 for further assistance. About us

Against Breast Cancer is the story of the personal crusade of founders Dr Anthony Leathem and his wife Patricia in their quest for a future free of breast cancer. Today, Against Breast Cancer funds pioneering research into new treatments, tools for earlier diagnosis and advice to reduce the risk of recurrence and secondary spread. Working with expert scientists we want to increase the survival rates of all breast
cancer patients and ultimately, discover a vaccine against breast cancer.

Our Research

Against Breast Cancer funds ground-breaking cancer research to improve detection, treatment and increase survival after breast cancer diagnosis. The focus of our research is preventing secondary spread, the main cause of breast cancer related deaths. Our ultimate goal is to stop secondary breast cancer from claiming lives. The research is carried out at some of the UK’s leading academic institutions including
The University of Southampton, Oxford University and St Barts, London and focuses on three key areas:

  1. How diet and lifestyle may increase or reduce your risk of developing secondary breast cancer, providing sound, evidence based advice relevant to a UK population.
  2. How to design better tools for earlier diagnosis of secondary breast cancer to increase survival rates.
  3. How the body’s natural defences could be harnessed to design more effective treatments and ultimately a vaccine against breast cancer

Thank you for choosing to support Against Breast Cancer. If you have any questions or enquiries regarding any aspect of the walk, get in touch with our Events Team: 07801 255 363 or events@againstbreastcancer.org.uk
