Frequently Asked Questions

We would love to help you with any questions you might have, please Contact Us today and talk to the Aginst Breast Cancer team. The Breast Walk Ever is an event series that happens annually every year, currently in the autumn. The Breast Walk Ever aims to raise awareness for breast cancer in the local community while also being Against Breast Cancer’s biggest bespoke fundraising event which funds research into secondary spread breast cancer detection, prevention and therapies.

What is the ‘Breast Walk Ever’?

The Breast Walk Ever is a charity walking event held to raise funds for Against Breast Cancer, who raise funds for vital research into secondary spread breast cancer, the main cause of all breast cancer-related deaths.

There are three distances available (marathon and half marathon) and supporters can choose which one is right for them. Our Spring walk takes place just outside Winchester and our Autumn walk is in Wallingford, Oxfordshire

Who can take part in the event?

The Breast Walk Ever is open to all everyone! including children. It is suitable for all ages and abilities, and whilst there is no age limit, all participants under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Anyone can be affected by breast cancer and anyone can get breast cancer. this walk has been created for all of you.

How do I decide which route I should choose?

The event is designed to be a challenge but is realistic in what you think you can achieve in the amount of time you have to train. Whether you are an experienced walker or are taking on a walking challenge for the first time, you will need to prepare for this event.

The average time for a half marathon walk is between 3 ½ and 6 ½ hours, whilst the average time for the full marathon walk is between 7 and 13 hours. On the day of the event, participants who have not arrived at the 10km checkpoint by the cut-off time communicated will continue at their own risk and will not be covered by the event’s liability.

Where are the start and finish points?

Our Spring walk starts and finishes in Hursley, just outside Winchester.

Our Autumn walk starts and finishes in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, next to the River Thames.

What support is provided on the route?

At each checkpoint refreshments including hot and cold drinks and snacks are available. Each checkpoint will have toilets and first aid facilities. Checkpoints are marked on the maps. We advise everyone to carry their own lunch, water bottle and personal belongings in a small rucksack. Refills will be available at each checkpoint.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are more than welcome*, however, owners are required to take full responsibility for theirs and we are unable to transfer dogs on the pre-arranged shuttle buses from the finish points.

The Breast Walk Ever also reserves the right to not allow you dog if we believe that the Dog is a risk to others safety.

*Except dogs which are banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991

How much sponsorship do I have to raise?

We are encouraging all the participants to raise a minimum of £75 in sponsorship.

When signing up for the event there will be an option to set up a JustGiving fundraising page. This is the quickest and easiest way to start your fundraising. However, fundraising offline or through other websites, including Facebook, are also absolutely fine ways to fundraise.

Can I do the Breast Walk Ever for another charity?

The Breast Walk Ever is organised by Against Breast Cancer as a fundraising event for the charity, therefore we kindly ask that all participants raise sponsorship for Against Breast Cancer.
