Frequently Asked Questions

We would love to help you with any questions you might have, please Contact Us today and talk to the Aginst Breast Cancer team. The Breast Walk Ever is an event series that happens annually every year, currently in the autumn. The Breast Walk Ever aims to raise awareness for breast cancer in the local community while also being Against Breast Cancer’s biggest bespoke fundraising event which funds research into secondary spread breast cancer detection, prevention and therapies.

What is the ‘Breast Walk Ever’?

Breast Walk Ever events are charity walking challenges held to raise funds for Against Breast Cancer, who raise funds for vital research into secondary spread breast cancer, the main cause of all breast cancer-related deaths.

Our Hampshire walk has three distances available (marathon and half marathon) and supporters can choose which one is right for them. Our Kent walk has a 10 mile, 5 mile and 1 mile family walk option.

Who can take part in the event?

The Breast Walk Ever is open to all everyone! including children. It is suitable for all ages and abilities, and whilst there is no age limit, all participants under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

How do I decide which route I should choose?

The events are designed to be a challenge but be realistic in what you think you can achieve in the amount of time you have to train. Whether you are an experienced walker or are taking on a walking challenge for the first time, you will need to prepare for these events.

There will be a cut-off for participants taking part in the marathon walk at the last support stop which is roughly 10KM from the finish. If you are not able to leave this checkpoint before the published time you will be offered a lift back to event HQ or will need to continue at your own risk. There are no cut-off times for the Kent walks

Where are the start and finish points?

Our Spring walk starts and finishes in Hursley, just outside Winchester.

Our Autumn walk starts and finishes in the St Clere Estate near Sevenoaks in Kent.

What support is provided on the route?

At each checkpoint refreshments including hot and cold drinks and snacks are available. Each checkpoint will have toilets and first aid facilities. Checkpoints are marked on the maps.

For the Hampshire event, we advise everyone to carry their own lunch, water bottle and personal belongings in a small rucksack. Refills will be available at each checkpoint. Food will be provided at the end of the walks at the Kent event.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are more than welcome*, however, owners are required to take full responsibility for theirs and we are unable to transfer dogs on the pre-arranged shuttle buses from the finish points.

The Breast Walk Ever also reserves the right to not allow you dog if we believe that the Dog is a risk to others safety.

*Except dogs which are banned under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991

How much sponsorship do I have to raise?

We encourage all participants to try and raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship.

When signing up for the event there will be an option to set up a JustGiving fundraising page. This is the quickest and easiest way to start your fundraising. However, fundraising offline or through other websites, including Facebook, are also absolutely fine ways to fundraise.

Can I do the Breast Walk Ever for another charity?

The Breast Walk Ever is organised by Against Breast Cancer as a fundraising event for the charity, therefore we kindly ask that all participants raise sponsorship for Against Breast Cancer.

How will Against Breast Cancer support me?

When you sign up to take part in the Breast Walk Ever, we will send you a pack full of ideas and helpful hints on how to fundraise. We’ll also send you a few training tips to make sure you enjoy the Breast Walk Ever; and remember it’s for all the right reasons!

Can I do another walk for Against Breast Cancer?

As well as the Breast Walk Ever, you can fundraise for Against Breast Cancer by taking part in the range of other walks and treks that we offer, such as multi-day treks in both the UK and overseas. If you prefer, you can also organise your own walk or walking challenge, and raise funds through this.

How do I receive a T-shirt?

You can order pink Against Breast Cancer T-shirts and other materials on sign up or via the Against Breast Cancer Shop.

If you sign up 30 days or more before the walk then your T-shirt will be sent to your address provided on sign up along with your Breast Walk Ever guide and fundraising materials.
